Voice Note #1

What's this space about?

Hello and welcome! This is the first voice note I'm recording, and I’m excited to share this new space with you. I keep referring to it as a voice note or episode; honestly, I'm not sure what to call it yet. The primary goal here is to introduce this space, but to be completely honest, I'm still figuring out exactly what it is.

Why this space came to be.

I've been wanting to do this for a long time, probably about two years. I wanted to introduce a blog feature to How Kind Studio, but I don’t enjoy writing and often find myself filtering too much when I write. I wanted something more effortless, something that embraces imperfections. The idea of recording voice notes or even videos seemed to make more sense. So, this is kind of like a blog, though I haven't designed the exact format for the website yet.

The struggle of finding the *right* content and imposter syndrome kicking in

I'm also unsure about the subjects I'll cover here. That uncertainty was a significant barrier to starting. I wondered what I would share in this space. I brainstormed ideas like design tips, educational content, and business advice. Those topics seemed typical for a business blog, aimed at helping others do what I do. However, I often struggle with imposter syndrome and don’t always feel like an entrepreneur, even though I've been running my own business for four years. Perhaps

you can relate to that feeling of not being ready to share everything about your journey because of fear that people might not take you seriously.

So, I decided not to force myself into those typical business topics. I want this space to be more spontaneous and authentic, where I can talk about what excites me in the moment. It’s also important for me to create content that allows people to connect with How Kind Studio on a personal level before committing to work with me. I realized that was missing. People only interacted with me on a one-on-one basis, which is a big leap.

I wanted to offer something free and easy to consume, so here we are.

I feel the need to connect with real people

I’m also hoping this will help foster a sense of community. Until now, most of my marketing efforts have been a one-way communication, with me just putting content out there. I want to change that and create more interaction. I want to feel like I’m part of a community, not just running a business. I want to connect with real people.

I don't know what I'm gonna talk about but I know I want to talk.

Content-wise, I don’t have a fixed plan. I want this to be a place where I can talk about things that excite me. For example, recording this first episode was a super-of-the-moment decision made while watching my morning show over breakfast. I realized I needed to talk and share, so I picked up the mic.

One recent experience that encouraged me was being invited to a podcast. Initially, I was apprehensive because I can be socially awkward and get exhausted from social interactions. However, I found the podcast recording invigorating. I spent an hour talking about myself and my interests and felt so energized afterward, even though I’ve been perpetually tired since having a one-year-old baby.

That experience showed me how much I enjoy talking and sharing.

I love my therapy sessions for similar reasons. They provide a space where I can talk about myself, be transparent, and be vulnerable. I find that incredibly fulfilling, even though it can be painful at times. So, I hope this space will offer a similar outlet for me to share and connect with others.

Biggest fear: That I'll only talk about myself and bore you to death.

I don't want this to be just about me, though. I’m aware this first episode is quite personal, but I aim to strike a balance between sharing my experiences and discussing topics that others find interesting. I’m figuring it out as I go along.

Ultimately, this is an introduction to a new way of connecting. There’s no rigid concept or subject line; it’s just a space to share and hopefully connect with you. I’m excited to record more and see where this takes us.

As a side note, since I genuinely want to connect with more people in the community, please feel free to reach out. Send me an email, message me on Instagram, and start a conversation. Whether you find my content interesting, like my designs, or simply feel like talking to someone, I’d love to hear from you. Even though social interactions can be draining in the moment, they ultimately give me life. So, consider this an open invitation to connect, have a virtual coffee chat, and get to know each other.

Ending things always feels a bit awkward, but thank you for listening. I'm looking forward to more voice notes and building connections with you.
